Copel Making Competition 2025

The feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist or Sao Joao was joyfully celebrated at Mount Mary Higher Secondary School on 24th June, 2025, in the school hall. The highlight of the celebration was a copel making competition that brought colour and excitement to the occasion.
The event commenced at 12:00 noon with a symbolic crowning of our Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex John D’Souza, and our Principal, Ma’am Melba Vas, with beautifully handcrafted copels. This was followed by a warm introduction of the esteemed judges by Teacher Anita. The panel included Ms. Reena Vaz, Ms. Jevel, and Sister Belinda, who were also honoured with charming copels.
The much-anticipated competition then began, featuring two enthusiastic participants from each class. Dressed in vibrant traditional attire and adorned with creative copels made from fresh flowers and fruits, the contestants captivated the audience, who cheered with enthusiastic applause.
Adding to the festivities was a delightful skit performed by the students, which had everyone rolling with laughter.
The event concluded with the prize distribution. Kezia Fernandes clinched the first prize, Elrich Fernandes secured the second, and Akash R was awarded the third prize. Sir Ozie delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.
It was truly a day filled with fun, laughter and festive spirit.
