International Yoga Day was jointly celebrated by the High School and Higher Secondary section in the Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School Hall on 21st June 2026. Led by Sir Adelbert and Sir Johnston Ribeiro, the programme featured yoga demonstrations, a poster-making competition, and a pledge for healthy living. Principal incharge of the Higher secondary Mrs. Anna Rodrigues, Headmistress of the High school Mrs. Trudy Luis, along with the staff members and the students actively participated in the yoga demonstration. The event highlighted yoga benefits and the Institution’s commitment to holistic education and well-being.

Inter-Class Football Tournament 2026-27
Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School Boy’s and Girl’s Interclass Football Tournament 2026-27 was conducted by Sir. Johnston Ribeiro from 15th to 18th June 2026. A total of 17 boys’ teams and 2 girls’ team participated in the tournament making it an exciting and highly competitive sporting event. The grand finals commenced with the Girls’ final between Girls team A and Girls team B. With a goalless draw in regulation time, Girls’ Team A emerged victorious in the tie-breaker. The boy’s final was contested between XII CRM B and XI CRM A. In a thrilling encounter, XII CRM B defeated XI CRM A by 2-1. At the prize distribution ceremony, our manager Rev. Fr. Alex John D’Souza and the Principal incharge Tr. Anna Rodrigues presented the Championship Trophy, winners’ medals, and runners-up medals to both the boy’s and girl’s teams bringing the four day sporting extravaganza to a fitting conclusion.
Inaugural Day 2026-27
Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School celebrated its Inaugural Day on 13th June 2026, which also marked the birthday celebration of the school manager, Rev. Fr. Alex D’souza .
A Thanksgiving-cum-Inaugural Mass was held at at 9:30 a.m. All the teaching and non-teaching staff, along with the students, participated in this Eucharistic celebration with great devotion and enthusiasm.
Thereafter, at 12:00 noon, the staff gathered together for a time of fun and fellowship. The football-themed décor beautifully lit up the venue and added vibrancy to the celebration. Fr. Alex was welcomed with a grand football-style entry. He then proceeded to cut the birthday cake and unveiled the Newcastle Football Club 2026–27 football-themed jersey.
The celebration was graced by the presence of former Principal Madam Melba Vas, Ma’am Trudy Luis Headmistress of Mount Marys High School, Assistant Parish Priests and , as well as Principal-in-Charge .
Adding joy to the occasion, the teaching staff presented a heartfelt birthday song, “Khushal Za Zolmachea Disa.” The celebration concluded with a delicious lunch shared by all.
Another Meaningful Initiative by the NSS Unit: From Awareness to Contribution
Transforming students one person at a time, the NSS Unit organized an enriching initiative that guided students on a journey from awareness to contribution. Through reflection, self-discovery, and personal breakthroughs, students actively explored who they truly are and how they can contribute meaningfully to society. It was inspiring to witness their openness, courage, and willingness to grow. The session created a deep and lasting impact, leaving the students empowered with greater confidence, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose.
The keynote speakers for the session were Principal Melba Vas, Mrs. Rima Verenkar, and Ms. Nelia Fernandes, who shared valuable insights that inspired and motivated the students. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Steffie, Ms. Manusha, and Ms. Nikita, whose dedicated efforts and teamwork contributed greatly to the success of this meaningful initiative.
Captain’s Royal Salute: Legacy in Action
Mount Mary’s came alive with gratitude and celebration on 13th April 2026 as Principal Melba Vas was felicitated for her remarkable 38 years of dedicated service, marking a legacy of commitment, leadership, and love.
The celebration began with a solemn Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, setting a graceful and thankful tone for the occasion. This was followed by a vibrant cultural programme presented by the students and teachers, adding warmth and joy to the memorable event.
Heartfelt words of appreciation were shared by Tr. Dr. Aida A. P. Dourado, Tr. Roweena Mary Dias, Ms. Goretty Jevel Fernandes, Mr. Joe Fernandes, and Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, each highlighting Principal Melba’s inspiring journey, unwavering dedication, and the positive impact she has made on countless lives.
In her response, Principal Melba expressed deep gratitude to the management, staff, students, and PTA for their love and support. She beautifully reminded everyone that “if an institution has to level up, the main ingredient is love,” leaving the audience inspired by her words and vision.
The joyous celebration concluded with the cutting of the cake and the exchange of tributes, making it a fitting tribute to a leader whose legacy of love and service will continue to inspire generations.
The event was compered by Tr. Luella M. G. Dias e Mascarenhas. his event was a grand success because of the initiative of our Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex, and the dedicated efforts of the coordinating team comprised of teachers Johnston E. Ribeiro, Anna Rita Rodrigues, and Joyla Pearl Goes, supported wholeheartedly by the team spirit and enthusiastic involvement of the staff and students.
