Inter-Class Singing Competition 2026

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, organised its Inter-Class Singing Competition on 17th July 2026 in the school hall. The event commenced at 10:15 a.m. with a warm welcome by the student comperes, Sara Samantha and Hanif Shaikh, in the presence of the Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, In-charge Principal Mrs. Anna Rodrigues, and the esteemed panel of judges Ms. Denzilia Menezes, Mr. Melroy Rodrigues, Ms. Evola Couto.

Following auditions held on 13th and 14th July, 15 finalists were selected from 54 participants to compete in the English, Hindi, and Konkani categories. The contestants impressed the audience and judges with their melodious performances, showcasing exceptional rhythm, voice modulation, clarity, and confidence.

The programme was further enriched by a guest performance from alumna Ms. Deepika Modje and musical presentations by the judges. After careful deliberation, the winners were announced:

English: 1st – Keziah Rebello (XII Arts A),

              2nd – Yoseph Monteiro (XI Science)

Hindi: 1st – Dinesh Ghanti (XII Arts B),

           2nd – Preksha B. Murmu (XI Commerce B)

Konkani: 1st – Krisal Lobo (XII Science),  

               2nd – Elrich Fernandes (XII CRM A)

The programme concluded with a Vote of thanks by In-charge Principal Mrs. Anna Rodrigues, who applauded the participants for their talent and dedication and expressed gratitude to the Manager, judges, organising team, teachers, and all who contributed to the success of the event.

Vana-Mahotsava Celebration 2026

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, celebrated Vana Mahotsava from 1st to 3rd July 2026 with activities promoting environmental awareness and responsibility.

The celebration began with an Environmental prayer service and a dance performance based on the poem Trees Are the Kindest Things I Know. A tree plantation drive was led by the Manager Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza,  Principal Incharge Tr. Anna Rodrigues, along with Eco Club teachers and students  who planted fruit-bearing saplings such as avocado, soursop, tamarind, and mango. A special highlight was the activity “Green Friend for Life”: plant exchange among the staff members.

On 2nd and 3rd July, students from all streams participated in a seed-sowing activity, planting a variety of vegetable seeds under the guidance of their teachers.

The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment to protecting nature, reminding everyone that every tree plant and every seed sown is a step towards a greener tomorrow.

Investiture Ceremony and NSS Unit Inauguration 2026

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School proudly conducted its Investiture Ceremony and NSS Unit Inauguration for the academic year 2026–2027 on 30th June 2026, marking a significant occasion in the institution’s journey of nurturing leadership and service among students.

The ceremony commenced with the formal investiture of the newly elected Student Council. The Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, administered the oath. The elected council members pledged to serve the school community with dedication and sincerity.

Addressing the gathering, Principal-in-Charge, Tr. Anna Rodrigues, encouraged the student leaders to lead by example and to carry out their responsibilities with courage, fairness and commitment.

The programme also witnessed the inauguration of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. The significance of the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You,” was highlighted, reminding students of the importance of selfless service and collective welfare.

The event concluded on a patriotic and inspiring note with the administration of the NSS oath, a melodious presentation by the NSS volunteers, and the singing of the National Anthem.

Sao Joao Celebration

The traditional festival of Sao Joao was held on the 24th of June 2026.The programme commenced with a musical escort by students. A short prayer service was conducted. The judges were Fr. Clive Diniz, Mrs. Lourdes Cardozo, and Tr. Kirti Naik. The students presented a lively dance performance. 28 students participated in the Kopel Making Competition. The First Prize was bagged by Ms. Devika Devar of XI CRM A, while Mast. Shannon Fernandes of XII CRM A secured the Second Prize. The Third Prize was awarded to Mast. Sneijder Fernandes of XI CRM A. Miss Dale Colaco and Ms. Canida Rodrigues received consolation prizes.
A humorous and informative skit depicting the culture and tradition was showcased. The Incharge Principal addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the participants and performers.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Tr. Saanvi.

Mount Mary’s Educational Complex International Yoga Day Celebration

International Yoga Day was jointly celebrated by the High School and Higher Secondary section in the Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School Hall on 21st June 2026. Led by Sir Adelbert and Sir Johnston Ribeiro, the programme featured yoga demonstrations, a poster-making competition, and a pledge for healthy living. Principal incharge of the Higher secondary Mrs. Anna Rodrigues, Headmistress of the High school Mrs. Trudy Luis, along with the staff members and the students actively participated in the yoga demonstration. The event highlighted yoga benefits and the Institution’s commitment to holistic education and well-being.
