National Sports Day Celebration

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation from students and staff. The morning assembly highlighted the importance of sports in developing fitness, discipline, teamwork, confidence and sportsmanship.

As part of the celebration, traditional and recreational sporting activities were organised for the students. The students participated in Lagori and sponge-ball cricket, while a friendly sponge-ball cricket match was organised for the staff. The match created a cheerful and enjoyable atmosphere encouraging the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork. The notice board was also attractively decorated to mark the occasion.

The celebration was an enjoyable and meaningful experience, reinforcing the importance of sports in the holistic development of students.

Independence Day Celebration

The Independence Day celebration commenced at 8:05 a.m. with Miss Delcia Rosario of XI Arts as the compere. The programme began with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag and the National Anthem. A solemn prayer service was then conducted by the students along with Tr. Mary and Tr. Reva.

The Officiating Principal, Tr. Anna Rodrigues, addressed the gathering and reminded students that freedom comes with responsibility and that their choices shape the nation. Highlighting the sacrifices made for India’s freedom, she encouraged students to become responsible citizens and envisioned them as “India in the making”—working towards a safer, cleaner and more equal India.

The celebration concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Tr. Luella Mascarenhas, expressing gratitude to the management, staff and students for their contribution to the success of the event.

The Annual Parent-Teacher Association (P.T.A.) General Body Meeting was held on 8th

August 2026 at 8:45 a.m. The programme commenced with a prayer service, followed

by a warm welcome to the dignitaries, teachers, and parents by the compère Tr.Reeva

Rodrigues.

The keynote address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Clive Diniz on the theme “Nurture Today,

Grow Tomorrow.” He emphasized the importance of collaboration among parents,

teachers, and management in nurturing children with love, guidance, understanding,

and positive role modelling.

Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, Manager, welcomed the parents and highlighted the need for

close attention to students’ academic progress, moral development, and safe digital

habits. Tr. Anna Rodrigues, Principal-in-Charge, along with Tr. Pearl Goes, explained

the school’s vision, mission, rules, attendance requirements, punctuality, daily routine,

mobile phone restrictions, and other important guidelines for parents and students.

The dignitaries were felicitated, followed by the reading of the previous meeting’s

minutes and presentation of the Statement of Accounts. The election of the P.T.A.

Executive Committee for 2026–2027 was conducted by Sir Jack.

The meeting concluded at 10:45 a.m. with a vote of thanks by Tr. Luella Mascarenhas,

expressing gratitude to the management, resource person, staff, and parents for their

valuable presence and continued cooperation.

Inter-Class Singing Competition 2026

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, organised its Inter-Class Singing Competition on 17th July 2026 in the school hall. The event commenced at 10:15 a.m. with a warm welcome by the student comperes, Sara Samantha and Hanif Shaikh, in the presence of the Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, In-charge Principal Mrs. Anna Rodrigues, and the esteemed panel of judges Ms. Denzilia Menezes, Mr. Melroy Rodrigues, Ms. Evola Couto.

Following auditions held on 13th and 14th July, 15 finalists were selected from 54 participants to compete in the English, Hindi, and Konkani categories. The contestants impressed the audience and judges with their melodious performances, showcasing exceptional rhythm, voice modulation, clarity, and confidence.

The programme was further enriched by a guest performance from alumna Ms. Deepika Modje and musical presentations by the judges. After careful deliberation, the winners were announced:

English: 1st – Keziah Rebello (XII Arts A),

              2nd – Yoseph Monteiro (XI Science)

Hindi: 1st – Dinesh Ghanti (XII Arts B),

           2nd – Preksha B. Murmu (XI Commerce B)

Konkani: 1st – Krisal Lobo (XII Science),  

               2nd – Elrich Fernandes (XII CRM A)

The programme concluded with a Vote of thanks by In-charge Principal Mrs. Anna Rodrigues, who applauded the participants for their talent and dedication and expressed gratitude to the Manager, judges, organising team, teachers, and all who contributed to the success of the event.
