Another Meaningful Initiative by the NSS Unit: From Awareness to Contribution

Transforming students one person at a time, the NSS Unit organized an enriching initiative that guided students on a journey from awareness to contribution. Through reflection, self-discovery, and personal breakthroughs, students actively explored who they truly are and how they can contribute meaningfully to society. It was inspiring to witness their openness, courage, and willingness to grow. The session created a deep and lasting impact, leaving the students empowered with greater confidence, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The keynote speakers for the session were Principal Melba Vas, Mrs. Rima Verenkar, and Ms. Nelia Fernandes, who shared valuable insights that inspired and motivated the students. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Steffie, Ms. Manusha, and Ms. Nikita, whose dedicated efforts and teamwork contributed greatly to the success of this meaningful initiative.

Captain’s Royal Salute: Legacy in Action

Mount Mary’s came alive with gratitude and celebration on 13th April 2026 as Principal Melba Vas was felicitated for her remarkable 38 years of dedicated service, marking a legacy of commitment, leadership, and love.

The celebration began with a solemn Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, setting a graceful and thankful tone for the occasion. This was followed by a vibrant cultural programme presented by the students and teachers, adding warmth and joy to the memorable event.

Heartfelt words of appreciation were shared by Tr. Dr. Aida A. P. Dourado, Tr. Roweena Mary Dias, Ms. Goretty Jevel Fernandes, Mr. Joe Fernandes, and Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, each highlighting Principal Melba’s inspiring journey, unwavering dedication, and the positive impact she has made on countless lives.

In her response, Principal Melba expressed deep gratitude to the management, staff, students, and PTA for their love and support. She beautifully reminded everyone that “if an institution has to level up, the main ingredient is love,” leaving the audience inspired by her words and vision.

The joyous celebration concluded with the cutting of the cake and the exchange of tributes, making it a fitting tribute to a leader whose legacy of love and service will continue to inspire generations.

The event was compered by Tr. Luella M. G. Dias e Mascarenhas. his event was a grand success because of the initiative of our Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex, and the dedicated efforts of the coordinating team comprised of teachers Johnston E. Ribeiro, Anna Rita Rodrigues, and Joyla Pearl Goes, supported wholeheartedly by the team spirit and enthusiastic involvement of the staff and students.

Christmas Celebration 2025

The school celebrated Christmas Day on 22nd December 2025 in a spirit of love and togetherness. The programme commenced with the Fourth Advent Assembly, centred on the message of love. This was followed by an Inter-Stream Carol Singing Presentation, with four streams participating and each stream presenting two carols in English and Konkani, filling the hall with harmony and Christmas cheer. The Principal, Mrs. Melba Vas, addressed the gathering with a thoughtful Christmas message, inspiring students to practise kindness and love in their daily lives. Chocolates were distributed to all classes, adding sweetness to the occasion. The celebration was also blessed by the presence of Fr. Alex John D’Souza, our Manager, adding spiritual significance to the event

Valedictory Function 2025-2026

On 18th December, the Marian family bid a heartfelt goodbye to a cherished part of itself as the farewell function for the 12th standard students was held with grace and emotion. The programme began with a Eucharistic celebration, seeking God’s blessings upon the students as they stepped into a new chapter of life. The gathering then moved to the school hall, where deserving students were honoured. The 11th standard students expressed their love and gratitude through a beautiful dance and song. Before the farewell song, the Principal shared a touching message on reaching and touching every heart through one’s journey. The teachers then sang “Adieus,” filling the atmosphere with emotion. With heavy hearts and warm smiles, each class teacher led their students out of the school, marking a tender and unforgettable farewell.

Recognition Day 2025

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School celebrated its Recognition Day, with great splendour and enthusiasm on 22 November 2025. The entire programme was thoughtfully planned and smoothly conducted under the inspiring leadership of Teacher Joyla Pearl-Goes. The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest Mrs. Donna DeSouza, along with the MLA of Velim and the Sarpanch of Chinchinim village.
The celebrations began on a lively note as the guests were warmly welcomed at the entrance, badges were pinned, and they were escorted to the venue to a vibrant march played by talented student musicians. The formal function opened with a graceful prayer dance, creating a serene atmosphere. The gathering was then welcomed and blessed by the Manager, Fr. Alex John D’Souza, whose blessings added spiritual depth to the event. This was followed by the felicitation of the Manager, Principal, and the entire teaching and non-teaching staff, appreciating their dedication and hard work. The school magazine was then released, followed by the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Marian. The Annual Report was read by the Principal, Mrs. Melba Vas, and the formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
The celebration continued with vibrant cultural performances by the students, which included energetic dances, melodious group songs, creative skits, and a colourful fashion show. In between the programmes, solo and duet singing accompanied by student musicians added rhythm and charm to the evening. Food stalls, game counters, creativity stalls, and the lively performance by the Black Eagles Band kept the campus buzzing with excitement. The open ground turned into a joyful space for dance and celebration, making the evening a memorable expression of Marian spirit, unity, and joy.
