Goa Liberation Day 2019

The 59th Goa Liberation Day was celebrated on 19th December2019 at mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School at 8:30 am

The program commenced with the unfurling of national flag at the hands of Manager Rev. Fr. Jose Antonio Costa and Principal Sir Trevor Vaz Baretto. the students saluted the flag and sang the national anthem.

A prayer service based on ‘Love Freedom and service’ was conducted to seek God’s blessing on the occasion. It was followed by a speech in Konkani by Sir Jack. In his speech, he addressed the true meaning of liberation and also highlighted the various issues like rapes, drugs, violence, communal disharmony  that contradicts the meaning of liberation. He also cited various day to day examples that concern the welfare of Goans.

A patriotic song ‘ Goa Goa Bangarachem’ was sung by the students. Fr. Jose Antonio Costa addressed the students and staff and whished them on this occasion. He stated the privileges one enjoys as a citizen of Goa while also highlighting the duties and responsibilities.

Sir Trevor Vaz Barreto – the Principal, wished the staff and students a happy Liberation Day and highlighted the importance of liberation day. The program concluded with a vote of thanks
