Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School Chinchinim, celebrated the festival of Sao Joao on 24th June 2023 with the Kopel Making Competition with great excitement.
The feast of Sao Joao is a celebration of the birth anniversary of Saint John the Baptist. It is a wonderful celebration of tradition and beliefs and marks the first festival of the School, with a desire to spread unity and communal harmony by celebrating all Festivals.
The celebration commenced with the prayer service. The compere Tr. Nelia welcomed the Principal Madam Melba Vas, Rev. Fr. Victor and Tr. Jennifer, the judges of the Kopel Making Competition.
Twenty eight enthusiastic participants wore colourful and creatively made kopels of natural flowers. The audience enthusiastically cheered all the participants.
Students gave an energetic dance performance on stage, wearing colourful attire keeping with the occasion.
The judges were served traditional snacks apt to the feast of Sao Joao.
The first prize was bagged by Akanksha Lobo of XII Arts A, the second by Callum Fernandes of XII Commerce A and Manu Nayak of XII Commerce B was awarded the third prize.
The event was a runaway success thanks to the enthusiasm and support of all.
