Inter Class Singing Competition 2025

Marian voices soared at the much-awaited Interclass Singing Competition held on 9th August 2025 in the school hall of Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School. The morning began with a warm welcome to Manager Rev. Fr. Alex John D’Souza, Principal Ma’am Melba Vas, and esteemed judges Mr. Lenoy Gomendes, Ms. Evelina Barretto, and Ms. Vibha Algundgi. Fifteen talented students competed in English, Hindi, and Konkani categories, captivating the audience with their performances. Judges also treated the crowd to timeless favourites. Winners included Jurico Correia, Deepika Modje, and Eden Velho in first place for their respective categories. The event concluded with prize distribution.

P.T.A. Annual General Body Meeting

The 1st P.T.A. Annual General Body Meeting of Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim, was held on 26th July 2025 in the school hall. The meeting began with a prayer and lighting of the lamp. Rev. Fr. Melito D’Costa, guest speaker, addressed parents on “The Evolving Dynamics of Parenting in Today’s Digital World,” offering valuable insights. Reports on the minutes and finances were presented, followed by the election of new PTA members. Principal Ma’am Melba Vas congratulated the elected members and discussed key school policies. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

Copel Making Competition 2025

The feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist or Sao Joao was joyfully celebrated at Mount Mary Higher Secondary School on 24th June, 2025, in the school hall. The highlight of the celebration was a copel making competition that brought colour and excitement to the occasion.
The event commenced at 12:00 noon with a symbolic crowning of our Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex John D’Souza, and our Principal, Ma’am Melba Vas, with beautifully handcrafted copels. This was followed by a warm introduction of the esteemed judges by Teacher Anita. The panel included Ms. Reena Vaz, Ms. Jevel, and Sister Belinda, who were also honoured with charming copels.
The much-anticipated competition then began, featuring two enthusiastic participants from each class. Dressed in vibrant traditional attire and adorned with creative copels made from fresh flowers and fruits, the contestants captivated the audience, who cheered with enthusiastic applause.
Adding to the festivities was a delightful skit performed by the students, which had everyone rolling with laughter.
The event concluded with the prize distribution. Kezia Fernandes clinched the first prize, Elrich Fernandes secured the second, and Akash R was awarded the third prize. Sir Ozie delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.
It was truly a day filled with fun, laughter and festive spirit.

Marching into Leadership – Investiture 2025

Marian Higher Secondary School buzzed with pride on 16th June 2025 as the newly elected Student Council stepped into leadership with grace and grit. A soulful prayer set the tone, followed by the oath led by Rev. Fr. Alex John D’Souza and badge pinning by Principal Madam Melba Vas. The General Secretary’s address echoed purpose and promise. A heartwarming twist lit up the morning — Fr. Alex’s birthday, though on the 11th, was celebrated with cake, cards, and cheerful wishes. Madam Melba’s inspiring words lit the path ahead, and the anthem closed the ceremony on a note of unity and hope.

Celebrating 30 glorious years – A Pearl shines at Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School joyfully celebrated its grand Pearl Jubilee on 21st June 2025, marking 30 years of excellence in education. The celebration began with a solemn Eucharistic Thanksgiving Ceremony, presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, along with Fr. Marino Dias, Asst. D.S.E. Secretary; Fr. Alex John D’Souza, Manager; Fr. Jose Antonio Da Costa, former Manager; and other concelebrants. The Principal Ms. Melba Vas, staff members, students, and representatives of parents graced the occasion.

Following the mass, His Eminence blessed Mother Mary’s grotto, prayerfully placed at the entrance of the school, symbolizing grace and divine presence. The event also honoured meritorious students for their outstanding achievements and dedication.

A special tribute was paid to Fr. Alex for completing 25 years of devoted priesthood. The Principal Melba Vas was also honoured for her 9 years of impactful leadership at Mount Mary’s and 38 years of unwavering commitment to the field of education.

The celebration was a beautiful reflection of faith, legacy, gratitude, and visionary leadership.
