The Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School celebrated Vana Mahotsav programme on 4 July 2024. The main objective of the celebration was to raise awareness among the students about the importance of trees, their plantation and conservation.
The programme began with a welcome address by the Discipline Secretary Mast. Aaron Gomes. Thereafter the prize distribution of Eco- Bag making competition was held.
Prize winners were as follows:
1st place – Ms Matrisa Fernandes XII Sci
2nd place – Ms Mystica Baretto XI Sci
3rd place – Mr. Judson De Sa XII Com A
The Manager Rev Fr. Alex John D’Souza and the Principal Mrs. Melba Vas planted the tree saplings in the school campus.
Tree saplings were also planted by the Heads of each department along with two student representatives. The Manager and the Principal distributed various tree saplings to the teachers, staff and the students.
Principal Mrs. Melba Vas addressed the gathering with a motivational speech. In her speech she spoke about the importance of tree plantation and conservation.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Saanvi C. Shetkar.
