Inter Higher Secondary Folk Dance Competition 2024

“Indian folk dance is a rhythmic echo of the country’s cultural heartbeat.
Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School Chinchinim organized it’s Annual Inter Higher Secondary Folk dance competition on 29th August 2024 which saw an enthusiastic participation of 15 teams.

The event commenced with the comperes Tr. Desiree Pires and Sir. Ozie Da Costa extending a warm welcome to the audience and participants. The esteemed judges Ms. Shammie Rasaikar, Mr. Chinmay Borkar and Ms Astha Devidas were escorted with the beats of the traditional musical instruments, adding a touch of cultural grandeur to the proceedings. The
lighting of the lamp by the judges and Principal set the auspicious tone to the event.

Principal Madam Melba Vas addressed the gathering and declared the competition open unveiling the Grand trophies, along with the convener Tr Nelia Pereira. As the competition kick started the stage came alive with mesmerising performances showcasing a vibrant display of cultural heritage, breathtaking richness of India folk dances varying from Gondal, Jodhwa, Suggi, garba, musoll khel, kummi, fugddi, lavani, kalbelia amd much more. Each performance kept the audience enthralled with breathtaking moves and soul stirring music. The 15 teams were electrifying, battling it out with grace and energy telling stories of cultural
roots.

As a special highlight of the competition, the judges took to the stage, offering captivating performances that left the audience in awe. Their expertise and passion for dance were evident in every movement, providing a masterclass in the art form.

Through an atmosphere of applause and celebration St. Andrew’s Higher Secondary School, Vasco emerged as the winners. Smt. Chandrabhaga Tukoba Naik Higher Secondary School, Curchorem and Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim, won the second and third places, respectively.
