Inter Higher Secondary Indian Folk Dance Competition

India is an intricate weave of cultures each unique in its own way. To display this diversity of cultures Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim organized its Annual Indian Folk Dance Competition on 14th September 2023. This year saw 14 participating teams from different higher secondaries across Goa. To commence the program the Principal Madam Melba Vas welcomed the gathering, which was followed by a prayer dance by our very own students. The participating teams danced to the different folk songs like Goan, Rajasthani, Gujarati, Lavni, Gondal, Dhalo to name a few. The judges for the day Mr. Suraj Jaiswar, Ms. Snehal Naik and Mr. Seniel Da Costa had a tough time judging the competition. Each dance had the audience in an awe, applauding to their mesmerizing performances. Towards the end of the competition Mr. Suraj Jaiswar danced to the tunes of ‘Chaleya’, whereas Mr. Seniel Da Costa had the audience grooving while matching to his dance steps. This array of dances had to have one winner with St. Andrews, Vasco taking home the Rolling Trophy. In the second place were St. Xaviers, Mapusa. CTN Higher Secondary School, Curchorem won the third prize. The compere for the day was Tr. Manusha while Tr. Luella proposed the vote of thanks. The competition embraced diversity, with a variety of enthralling dance steps, ensuring a resounding success.

The super school Annual General Body Meeting of Chinchinim complex was held on 31st   August 2023 at Mount Mary’s HSS Chinchinim

The meeting began at 9:05 a.m with a  prayer service led by Sr. Flavia Vaz. The dignitaries were then escorted to the dais by Tr. Anna. Rodrigues. Mrs Melba Vaz principal of Mount Mary’s Higher secondary school welcomed everyone of the Chinchinim School complex. She addressed the gathering and inspired everyone with her words stating that ‘Teachers are the agents of Change’

Mount Mary’s HSS emerge Salcete Champions

Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, CHinchinim Defeated Fr. Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna 8-7 via sudden death to emerge champs of teh U-17 Subroto Mukerjee Salcete Taluka boys football tournament played at Cuncolim school ground.

Gibbs Pinto scored for Mt. Mary’s HSS while Pritam Kattimani netted for Fr. Agnel HSS. Both the teams were tied at 1-1- at the end of regulation time.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Mt. Mary’s emerged victoroius

P.T.A. General Body Meeting

Parents and teachers working together create a strong foundation for student success

The PTA Annual General Body Meeting of Mount Mary Higher Secondary School was held on August 19, 2023. The Manager Fr. Alex John D’Souza welcomed the gathering and this was followed by a prayer service.

The highlight of the day was a very practical and informative session by Dr. Jagdish A. Cacodcar, Prof. and HoD Dept. of Community Medicine, GMC, on the topic ‘Parenting Teenagers in the Digital Age’.
He elaborated on the dangers our teenagers are exposed to and how it was essential for parents to know their child’s friends and keep track of their other activities.

Independence Day Celebration

India’s 77th Independence Day commemorated at Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim.

The only real prison is pure at the only we are freedom is freedom from fear.

The management, staff and students of Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School began the Independence Day celebration with the hosting of the tricolor followed by a short prayer service, thanking God for independent India and for the gift of Mother Mary on the feast of her Assumption into heaven.
