As the Principal of Mount Mary’s H.S.S., I feel
blessed to take charge of this esteemed institution which focuses on Holistic
Education which is an amalgamation of Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social, and
Spiritual growth where the students will have the opportunity to discover who
they are, find their purpose in life and move forward towards achieving the
desired outcomes, with hand held support from our team of dedicated teachers,
mentors and educators.
Miss Grazia Furtado student of Mount Mary’s Higher school, Chinchinim had represented Goa in 22nd national sqay championship 2021-22 held at Manohar Parrikar Indoor stadium, Navelim salcete Goa and won the gold medal under – 60kg weight category.
She also won a gold medal in the 16th all Goa sqay martial
arts state level championship 2021-22 orginised by Sqay association of Goa.
Mast. Avdesh Meena student of Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary schools also won the gold medal at state level in the – 48kg weight category
Women Is a special creation of God. At Mount Mary’s HSS we celebrated the women’s day by having an special assembly for the students which was well lead by our Principal Mrs. Melba Vaz with a powerful motivational speech for the women. Taking the opportunity of the International Women’s Day the male staff of MMHSS organized a function to acknowledge the good work carried out by the women in the school. The Manager Rev. Fr. Alex John Dsouza addressed the function with a lovely message to all the women followed by our Principal who who spoke on behalf of all the women. The theme of the event was “Women of Tomorrow”.
An All Goa Quiz Competition was organized by Cuncolim Educational Society Secondary School, Cuncolim on 5 March, 2022. The topics for the quiz covered the areas of Science, Maths, Social Science and General Knowledge. 10 teams from different HSS’s participated. Our students Mast. Rudresh Achari and Miss Venoshka Cradozo of class 11 Science cleared the preliminary round and were selected for the main round along with 3 other teams. Our students showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions and bagged the second place.
A gratitude day, expressing the valuable contribution of
principal Sir Trevor Vaz Barreto was
celebrated on 17th Feb 2022.
Sir Trevor was appointed as the principal of Mount Mary’s HSS from 2013 to 2022 and has worked tirelessly towards the HSS. He has been instrumental not only in the academic achievements but also in the infra structure. His insights, visions and devotion to the growth of the school shows an example of how a true leader can raise the standards of the school. He has worked for the betterment of the school with his full dedication and to celebrate his contribution to the school the manager Rev Fr. Alex D’Souza, Principal and the staff celebrated the gratitude day in his honour. Rev Fr. Alex D’Souza thanked the principal for his contribution towards the school. Principal Melba also thanked Sir Trevor for his hard work and dedication to bring up the institution. Sir Jack spoke on behalf of all the staff members. Sir Trevor fondly shared his memories in the school during his address. A token of appreciation and a gift was given to sir Trevor.
The 73 rd Republic Day was celebrated in our MMHSS, Chinchinim on 26 th January, 2022, following all the norms on social distancing to avoid the spread of Covid -19
Tr. Luella, who was the compere for the function gave an introduction and welcomed the gathering. Which was followed by Unfurling of the flag by our Principal Mrs. Melba Vas and singing of the National Anthem.
A prayer service was conducted by Tr. Manusha and her team invoking God’s blessing. Tr. Desiree shared her thoughts of patriotism on this special occasion.
A vote of thanks was proposed by the compere Tr. Luella.
On the occasion of the national girl child day celebrated on 24th January 2022, We organised a poster making activity in accordance with the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The theme of the activity was ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, to highlight the importance of securing and educating the girl child in our society. Our Students enthusiastically participated in the activity.
