Vidhyan Dhara 2024 Session

As a part of mega science series of Vidhyan Dhara 2024, which aims at fostering scientific inquiry among young minds, a talk was organised in Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim Goa on 23 January 2024 in Higher Secondary School campus.

Among 112 students from XI Science and XII Science attended the session. Resource person for the session was Mr. Anchit Rasik Shet Parker, Assistant professor, Department of Microbiology, PES’s RSN, College of Arts and Science, Ponda Goa.

Mount Mary’s First Annual Day Celebration

On December 22nd, 2023, Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim dazzled under the theme “Evening with the Stars” during its first ever annual day celebration. Shri Bhagirath Shetye, the Secretary of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the Chief Guest and Mr. Valentino Barretto, the President of the PTA and the Sarpanch of the village of Chinchinim, the Guest of Honor, were welcomed with melodious music by the school band and adorned with badges, setting the stage for a glittering night.

Christmas Activities

With Christmas carols filling the air, Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary buzzed with festive cheer. Special advent assemblies were held to prepare for Christ’s coming. To unleash the artistic spirit of our students, a dazzling array of Christmas themed competitions were held on 18th December, 2023. Students crafted shimmering stars and Christmas tree ornaments with eco -friendly material, lanterns were transformed into vibrant canvases and discarded bottles blossomed into colourful Christmas scenes, showcasing the boundless creativity of our students. The Principal appreciated the efforts of all the participants. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners.

Celebration of Life, Childhood and Innovation

Two very important days happened to be in the long Diwali break. 10th November was the birth anniversary of our Principal, Melba Vas and 14th November was Children’s Day. And so, the Mount Mary’s family celebrated both these important days on November 22, 2023 with a lot of family spirit.

Biodiversity Walk

On 25th November 2023, a Biodiversity Walk was organized by the Biodiversity Management Committee Village Panchayat Chinchinim – Deussua for the NSS students of Std. XI of our Higher Secondary as a part of awareness campaign. The walk began from the school premises at 7.30am. The group walked around the vicinity of the higher secondary and returned at 9.00am.

Total Students Participated – 35 ; Staff – 02

The walk was led by expert guides who explained about the various species of plants and birds that they encountered along the way. The walk also included interactive activities and quizzes making it more fun and engaging for the students.

Dignitaries present for the Biodiversity walk carried out on the 25th of November 2023 were:

Resource persons for the walk included:

The students actively participated in the program and showed great interest and enthusiasm in learning from first hand experience. The curiosity among the students had no end. The experts patiently dealt with every question raised by the students.

The program was coordinated by Tr. Manusha Jacques.

At the end of the program, the students were served light refreshment.
