Mount Mary’s First Annual Day Celebration

On December 22nd, 2023, Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim dazzled under the theme “Evening with the Stars” during its first ever annual day celebration. Shri Bhagirath Shetye, the Secretary of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the Chief Guest and Mr. Valentino Barretto, the President of the PTA and the Sarpanch of the village of Chinchinim, the Guest of Honor, were welcomed with melodious music by the school band and adorned with badges, setting the stage for a glittering night.

This was followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, a symbol of knowledge and enlightenment. Rev. Fr. Alex D’Souza, the Manager, then delivered the welcome address. With a flourish, Shri Bhagirath Shetye unfurled a creatively crafted scroll, officially declaring the event open.

The school magazine, “Expressions 2.0,” themed ‘Illuminate the World with your Brilliance’ and was unveiled by our valued chief guest, with a touch of creativity. As a tribute to exceptional contributions, students and teachers were recognized and felicitated with trophies.

In a glittering ceremony, complete with crowns and sashes, Master Maxson Pereira was crowned as Mount Marian boy and Miss Annett Fernandes as Mount Marian girl for being head over shoulders over the other boys and girls not only in the field of academics but also in cocurricular and extra curricular activities. This added a touch of youthful glamour to the occasion.

As the formal ceremony concluded, the stage transformed into a kaleidoscope of creativity. Students from diverse streams showcased their talents through a mesmerizing array of performances. A graceful welcome dance, a thought-provoking play, a vibrant fusion of Indian and Goan dances, a hilarious puppet show, poignant mimes, soulful solo and duet performances, and a heartwarming Christmas carol singing session by our talented teachers kept the audience enthralled. The Principal, Melba Vas read out the annual report that gave a comprehensive overview of the year’s accomplishments.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Bhagirath Govind Shetye and the Guest of honor, Mr. Valentino Barretto lauded the dedication of the staff and students, praising their tireless efforts in making the event a resounding success. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Tr. Nelia Pereira. The eventful day concluded with the resounding strains of the national anthem at 9:30 pm, leaving the audience with cherished memories.
